Workshops
with Nina Wise give you the physical and spiritual tools to translate
your inner life into theater. Everyone has a story to tell. But few of
us have the opportunity to express ourselves freely in a safe and supportive
environment. What makes Ninas workshops unique is her emphasis on
the integration of body, mind and spirit.
Stories reside in the body,
so we begin by moving from our center, giving voice and gesture to our
private characters and realities. Unbounded self-expression is remarkably
satisfyingfor the heart, the mind, the soul, and the body.
The sessions include relaxation, meditation, movement, singing, storytelling,
and theater games. Expect to surprise yourself, to become more playful
and at ease before an audience, and to leave with an enhanced sense of
well-being in both your personal and creative lives.
To register
for Motion Theater workshops, we request you send a deposit to hold your

Buddhist Practice When It Really Matters:
A Program for Healthcare Professionals, Caretakers, and Loved Ones of Those with Life-Changing Illness
Sunday July 11, 2010
10 am - 5 pm
Green Gulch Farm Zen Center
Muir Beach, CA
Caring for those who are ill, while one of the most challenging experiences of a lifetime, can also provide the opportunity for profound spiritual insight and a deep opening of the heart. During this class, we will meet together to explore caretaking and illness within a Buddhist context. How can caretaking and loving one who is ill be a path to our own awakening? How can we maintain emotional well-being during times of great stress? How can we utilize visualization and meditation to enhance physical and psychological well-being?
We will engage in the practices the Buddha laid out for healing the heart, including the cultivation of equanimity, lovingkindness, compassion, and joy. We will do visualization practices designed to promote physical and psychological healing. We will move gently, chant, and spend time sharing our stories in a caring and supportive environment.
Fees: $95, $85.50 current SF Zen Center members, $76.00 limited income. Includes lunch.
Registration: Please call the Green Gulch front office at 415.383.3134 to register.

Spontaneous Zen
A workshop in meditation and autobiographical improvisation
with Nina Wise and Jeremy Levie
Saturday July 31 and Sunday August 1, 2010
10 am - 5 pm each day
Green Gulch Farm Zen Center
Muir Beach, CA
Suzuki Roshi once said that we practice sitting to be "ready for anything." In Nina's improvisation classes we'll learn and practice expressing through movement and language the narratives that enrich our daily lives. In meditation with Jeremy we'll see what happens, receiving our experience rather than implementing directives. Using yoga, sounding, movement, and other exercises (from Nina's years of experience), we'll cultivate our capacity to tell our story and bring to life what is often unnoticed or unacknowledged. The workshop is open to all, both as a tool for greater awareness and an avenue for self-expression. This is an opportunity to engage in full-bodied self-expression and also deepen into stillness and silence.
Fees: $190; $171 current SFZC members; $152 limited income. Lunch is included for both days. Workshop fees do not include overnight accommodations. If you would like to stay overnight in the guesthouse, please make separate arrangements by calling the Green Gulch office at 415.383.3134.
Registration: Please call the Green Gulch office at 415.383.3134 to register.
